Nail Night at the boutique!

Fresh nails are the best accessory for yours hands!  Its the best way to express your personality, mood, style and even season!  There are so many new techniques, colors and tools that makes a typical french manicure a thing of the past. Ever spend $$ on a color or nail art you're sick of in 2 days?  Keeping up with your nails can be costly at a salon once or twice a week, so why spend an arm & a leg and pay someone to do your nails when you can learn how to do them just as good yourself?!  Change your nail color as often as you change your mind!

That being said we would like to introduce our "Nail Night" at Some Girls boutique!  This past Wednesday we invited all bunnies to come for a free nail tutorial to learn how to do some fabby nail art that is taking over all social networking sites!  We focused on a couple of designs that were easy to accaccomplish a fresh and fun look!

Some Girls attend this year's Siro's Cup

Held every year at Siro’s trackside restaurant on the eve of opening day to jump start the Saratoga Race Track season, this year had a record high with over 1,200 attendees and over $200,000 raised and Some Girls were happy to be a part of it. DIY Basket Weave Crop Top

As the summer days are getting longer..hem lines are getting shorter!  Here's another easy way to add a little flare to an old shirt!

We started out by taking an over sized shirt ( Any size shirt or tank top will do as long as its a soft cotton and a little longer)

Then we cut about half inch slits up to the graphic of the shirt to make a fringe crop.  You can make shorter or longer pieces depending how comfortable you are with showing off your stomach, however we suggest cutting a little shorter to get the best result.

We took the top of two of the pieces and knotted them together.

We continued to do this by taking a piece from each fringe and knotting it to the one next to it for three more rows, front and back.

Once completed you will have a basket weave fringe crop top perfect to pair with a pair of cut off denim shorts or a high waisted skirt from Some Girls boutique!

Three Awesome Ways to Revamp your Old Tees

Every once in a while, you need to clean out your clothes. Of course, you pull out a bunch of old, ratty shirts where you wonder why you owned them in the first place. Don't worry, it happens to all of us. We found a cute way to recycle those shirts and use them for an updated trend. These DIY projects are easy, simple, & timeless... Not to mention adorable! Get ready to be creative!

1) chic braided headband

Cut two pieces of your shirt, choose colors of your preference!

Then, get a ball chain or any chain to intertwine with the shirt strands. We used an old necklace!

Tie them around a hair elastic & strt to braid. When finished, tie it to the elastic again. Tada! You're done and now you have a fabulous headband to wear with your next outfit!

We went for the classy black & white with a silver chain!

Throw this super cute headband on with some denim cutoffs and a top
from Some Girls Boutique!

2) stringy statement necklace

This item is perfect with a simple shirt and some jeans. Or go for a bold look with a dress! This is our stringy statement necklace. To make this, you'll need just the old shirt & a pair of scissors.

Cut lots of strands from the shirt, then stretch them out until they start to curl. If they don't curl, find another shirt... we ran into that problem.

Once the strands are cut & stretched, form a figure 8. The length of your necklace will shorten by 1/2 and thats okay!

Then take an extra strand for the clasp. I liked mine to be a little more creative, so I braided it. Now the back of the necklace looks more fun. Feel free to braid some strips and throw it into the figure 8. Play around & make it your own!

Here is your final piece, how cute!

3) What a Work Out Tank!

With summer in full swing, you can't but help to gain a few pounds while indulging in the BBQs, grad parties, ice cream galore, and going out with friends. Once you realize how much you've been devouring, its going to be gym time. How about working out in your new gear including this adorable work out tank?! So simple to make.

First, cut off the sleeves and the lower half of the tee shirt, you don't want your top to be so loose.

When the sleeves are cut off, pull the two sides in the back so we can create a twist with the straps. The sleeves will start to curl but all you need to do is twist and keep twisting until you are half way down your back.

Your tank should look something like this:

Salute Your Shorts

Showing support for your country is always instyle!  And as the summer heats up quicker than you can say the Pledge of Allegiance, we are noticing are huge flag trend approaching us just in time for the 4th of July!  Today we made
First take a pair of denim cutoffs (available at Some Girls boutique!), the lighter the better, or if you are feeling daring try bleaching them first to get your stars and stripes to pop!
https://mail-attachment.googleusercontent.com/attachment/u/0/?ui=2&ik=a5e6f99a34&view=att&th=1381542c2096d97d&attid=0.1&disp=inline&safe=1&zw&saduie=AG9B_P89a9gXkRjSdOjw7QShxz7U&sadet=1340400371525&sads=kqAxnnGYX1k5jGDlLno3UTVxcLw
Next, stencil and cut some star shapes out of a thick paper ( as many or as little as you want) and securely tape them to one pant leg.

Fold the shorts in half and cover the rest of the areas (waistband, fly, upper pocket) in newspaper and tape securely to avoid getting paint on any unwanted areas.

Place on some newspaper, and with a royal blue, fast dry interior/exterior spray paint, carefully spray the left side of the shorts.  Make sure to hold about 6 inches way from the fabric and spray as much as you like to get the desired look.

Next, fold to the other side of the shorts and tape vertical stripes, as thick or as thin as you would like.  We used Frog Tape used for taping of walls, and cover the rest securely with newspaper.  Use a cherry red interior/exterior quick dry spray paint.

Let it sit for 15-20 minutes and remove taped off areas to reveal the finished product!
